Who am I?

Hello! I'm Declan and I’m a voice coach based in West End, Brisbane. I’ve been helping adults connect with and improve their voices for over seven years, and I work with folks across all musical styles and skills, helping them improve their singing and performing abilities and mindsets. These can also incorporate the exploration of songwriting, vocal anatomy, vocal healthcare and music theory.

I also specialise in distorted vocals (especially in metal and rock) and love helping people explore these intense techniques in a healthy and sustainable way.

I also offer coaching for public-speaking, presenting and voice-acting. Essentially, if you want to develop a skill that orbits your voice, I've got you!

My coaching style is all about empathy, patience, and what I call the "Objective Perspective" - a method of developing your voice as an instrument while practising self-care and emotional awareness. I believe that your voice is your instrument, not your enemy, and I know that using the voice in any capacity is a fundamentally emotional experience.

As your coach, I am all about helping you feel more comfortable and safe while using your voice, and then developing it at your own pace.

I strongly believe a voice coach should help to guide you along your vocal/musical journey; not to decide what they think your journey should be. Whatever you want to be able to do, I'll be there to help you do it (and to be your biggest cheerleader along the way, of course).

I’m also an active musician myself, regularly performing in two bands and staying connected with the local music scene, so I'm able to bring that real-world experience into my coaching style.

No matter what your experience or confidence level, I'm here to help you grow your skills and just feel better while doing it.
